Yunnan Province is rich in coal resources and is one of the coal-rich provinces in Southern China. Its coal resources have certain advantages in reserves, types, and occurrence characteristics. The province has large coal reserves and broad distribution. The range of coal types is relatively complete, although coal seams are buried quite deep. Major coalfields and their locations include: Zhenxiong coalfield, Xuanwei coalfield, Eènhong coalfield, Guishan coalfield, Yipinglang coalfield, Xiangyun coalfield, and Huaping coalfield. Coal types mainly include anthracite, coking coal, gas coal, fat coal, lean coal, poor coal, and lignite. The quality of raw coal includes ash content of 6.18~58.85%, volatile matter 7~62.85%, total sulfur 0.13~21%, and carbon content of 62.53~91%. 58%, net calorific value on as-received basis (Qnet,ar) 3295~7334 kcal/kg.
