The infrastructure such as equipment manufacturing and plant construction used for production is not included within the scope of the dataset boundaries; the data inventory is formed by consolidating data from multiple sources and has referenced industry statistics, standards, and emission factor handbooks to supplement and refine data on gas emissions (VOCs), water emissions (cobalt, COD), and waste disposal; the production of the cells includes slurry preparation (mixing of electrode materials, conductive agents, binders, and solvents), electrode preparation (coating, drying, rolling, slitting, cell assembly, welding and packaging, electrolyte filling and sealing, charging, forming, grading, aging, testing and other processes.
