The characteristics of municipal solid waste in Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province are as follows: 52.5% food waste, 5.5% paper, 6% rubber, 3% textiles (fibers), 3% wood and bamboo, 0% ash and soil, 20.5% bricks, tiles, and ceramics, 5.5% glass, 3% metals, 1.36% others. The moisture content is 55.81%, and the higher calorific value of 4526. 97 kJ/kg, lower calorific value 2820.89 kJ/kg. The carbon fraction of initial waste originating from biomass accounts for 60.4%. The proportion of unoxidized and largely recoverable metals in the waste (excluding very small or very thin components): Iron: 60.03%; Aluminum: 17.81%; Copper: 72.83%. Overall degradation rate of waste over 100 years: 18.73%.
