This dataset describes the extraction of raw coal. Coal mining methods in China can be divided into two major categories: Open-pit mining and underground mining. The specific choice depends on geological conditions, seam thickness, burial depth, and other factors. Open-pit mining includes drilling, blasting, extraction, crushing, transportation, waste disposal, pollutant treatment, and ecological restoration. Underground mining includes tunneling, coal extraction, mechanical equipment, transportation within the mine and plant, ventilation, pollutant treatment, and ecological restoration and management.

The coalfields of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region are widely distributed. Except for five counties and cities (Xiji, Longde, Jingyuan, Wuzhong, and Yongning), all nineteen counties and cities in the region have coal deposits, covering a total coal-bearing area of 11,688.9 km2, accounting for 17.6% of the regions total area. The region can be divided into four major coalfields: the Helanshan coalfield in the north, the Lingyan coalfield in the east, the Guyuan coalfield in the south, and the Xiangshan coalfield in the west. The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is rich in coal resources with a full range of coal types, mainly coking coal, anthracite, and non-caking coal. The raw coal quality is characterized by ash content of 5.01~16.42%, volatile matter of 7.72~36.52%, and total sulfur of 0.2~0. 79%, Qnet,ar net calorific value on received basis 6500~8558 kcal/kg.
