The characteristics of municipal solid waste in Yichang city, Hubei province, are as follows: kitchen waste 55.3%, paper 1.5%, rubber 4.5%, textile (fiber) 0%, wood-bamboo 8.3%, ash-soil 0%, brick-tile-ceramic 27.3%, glass 2%, metal 1.1%, and other types 0%. The moisture content is 53.5%, and higher calorific value of 4550. 7 kJ/kg, lower calorific value 2783.55 kJ/kg. The carbon share from biomass sources in initial waste is 60.4%. The proportion of unoxidized and recoverable metals in the waste (excluding very small or very thin components): Iron: 60.03%; Aluminum: 17.81%; Copper: 72.83%. Overall degradation rate of waste in 100 years: 18.73%.
