The characteristics of urban solid waste in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province are as follows: food waste 52.5%, paper 5.5%, rubber 6%, textile (fiber) 3%, wood/bamboo 3%, dust and soil 0%, bricks and tiles/ceramics 20.5%, glass 5.5%, metal 3%, other 1.36%. Moisture content 55.81%, higher heating value 4526. 97 kJ/kg, lower heating value 2820.89 kJ/kg. The carbon share originating from biomass in the initial waste is 60.4%. The proportion of unoxidized and largely recoverable metals in the waste (excluding very small or very thin parts): iron: 60.03%; aluminum: 17.81%; copper: 72.83%. Overall degradation rate of waste over 100 years: 18.73%.
