The dataset represents the waste management activities of \"municipal solid waste (MSW)\" in a sanitary landfill. The recommended use of this dataset: for average municipal/public waste mixtures. Not suitable to represent any single specific waste, such as plastics, paper, cardboard. The characteristics of urban solid waste in Shanwei City, Guangdong Province, are as follows: food waste 35.66%, paper 15%, rubber 29.8%, textile (fibers) 8.6%, wood and bamboo 5.39%, ash and soil 0.42%, bricks and ceramics 0.76%, glass 1.98%, metal 1.6%, other 0.8%. Moisture content 53% 12%, higher heating value 9431.59 kJ/kg, lower heating value 7491.65 kJ/kg. The carbon fraction of the initial waste, i.e., biogenic is 60.4%. The unoxidized and largely recoverable metal content in the waste (excluding extremely small or thin components): Iron: 60.03%; Aluminum: 17.81%; Copper: 72.83%. Overall degradation rate of the waste over 100 years: 18.73%. Degradability of the fraction constituting the waste: Paper: 27%; Mixed cardboard: 32%. 4% plastic: 1%; laminated materials: 18%; laminated packaging, such as drink cartons: 18%; composite goods, such as diapers: 18%; glass: 0%; textiles: 12%; minerals: 0%; natural products: 27%; compostable materials: 27%; inert metals: 10%; volatile metals: 0%; batteries: 0%; electronics: 0%; landfill gas capture and utilization generate 2.52E-04 kWh of electricity and 9.06E-01 MJ of useful heat.
