The characteristics of municipal solid waste in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province are as follows: food waste 62.6%, paper 10.9%, rubber 11.4%, textile (fiber) 2.1%, wood and bamboo 0.9%, ash and soil 0%, brick, tile and ceramics 0.7%, glass 2%, metal 0.2%, and other materials 9.2%. It has a moisture content of 60.7%, and higher heating value of 5649. 64 kJ/kg, lower calorific value 3757.05 kJ/kg. The carbon share from biogenic sources in initial waste is 60.4%. The proportion of non-oxidized and recoverable metals in waste, excluding extremely small or thin components: Iron: 60.03%; Aluminum: 17.81%; Copper: 72.83%. Overall degradation rate of waste over 100 years: 18.73%.
