The dataset represents the waste management activity of \"municipal solid waste\" in a sanitary landfill. Recommended use of this dataset: for average municipal/public waste mixtures. It is not suitable to represent any single specific waste, such as plastics, paper, cardboard. The characteristics of municipal solid waste in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region are as follows: food waste 36.11%, paper 19.41%, rubber 14.35%, textile (fiber) 5.73%, wood/bamboo 3.87%, ash and soil 10.56%, bricks and tiles/ceramics 2.11%, glass 2.89%, metals 2.64%, and others 2. 35% moisture 46.41%, Higher Heating Value 7088.35 kJ/kg, Lower Heating Value 5320.43 kJ/kg. The carbon fraction of the initial waste, i.e., from biogenic origin is 60.4%. The proportion of non-oxidized and largely recoverable metals in waste (excluding very small or very thin parts) is Iron: 60.03%; Aluminum: 17.81%; Copper: 72.83%. The total degradation rate of waste over 100 years is 18.73%. The degradability of the waste fractions is as follows: Paper: 27%; Mixed Cardboard: 32%. 4% plastic: 1%; laminated materials: 18%; laminated packaging, such as beverage cartons: 18%; composite goods, like diapers: 18%; glass: 0%; textiles: 12%; minerals: 0%; natural products: 27%; compostable materials: 27%; inert metals: 10%; volatile metals: 0%; batteries: 0%; electronics: 0%; landfill gas capture and utilization produces 9.39E-05 kWh of electricity and 3.38E-01 MJ of useful heat.
