It does not suit to represent any single specific waste like plastics, paper, or cardboard. The characteristics of municipal solid waste in Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, are as follows: food waste 64.5%, paper 6.7%, rubber 10.1%, textiles (fibers) 1.2%, wood/bamboo 0.1%, ash and soil 0%, bricks and ceramic tiles 15.1%, glass 2%, metals 0.3%, other 1.36%. It has a moisture content of 55.81% and a higher calorific value of 5161. 91 kJ/kg, lower calorific value 3249.72 kJ/kg. The carbon share from biological sources in initial waste is 60.4%. The ratio of non-oxidized and largely recoverable metals in the waste (excluding very small or very thin parts) is Iron: 60.03%; Aluminum: 17.81%; Copper: 72.83%. The overall degradation rate of waste over 100 years is 18.73%.
