The dataset represents the waste treatment activity of “municipal solid waste” in a sanitary landfill. The recommended use of this dataset is for the average municipal/public waste mixture. It is not suitable to represent any single specific waste type such as plastics, paper, or cardboard. The characteristics of municipal solid waste in Tianshui City, Gansu Province, are as follows: food waste 36.38%, paper 9.7%, rubber 11.34%, textile (fiber) 2.1%, wood/bamboo 1.36%, ash and soil 0%, brick, tile, and ceramics 37.81%, glass 0.93%, metals 0.23%, other 0%. Moisture content is 44%. 26%, higher heating value 6088.2 kJ/kg, lower heating value 4390.57 kJ/kg. The carbon share from initial waste, that is, the biogenic share is 60.4%. The unoxidized and recoverable metal content in the waste (excluding very small or very thin components): Iron: 60.03%; Aluminum: 17.81%; Copper: 72.83%. Overall degradation rate of waste over 100 years: 18.73%. The degradability of the waste fractions: Paper: 27%; Mixed cardboard: 32%. 4% plastic: 1%; laminates: 18%; laminated packaging, such as beverage cartons: 18%; composite goods, such as diapers: 18%; glass: 0%; textiles: 12%; minerals: 0%; natural products: 27%; compostable materials: 27%; inert metals: 10%; volatile metals: 0%; batteries: 0%; electronics: 0%; landfill gas capture and utilization produce 5.52E-05 kWh of electricity and 1.99E-01 MJ of useful heat.
