The characteristics of municipal solid waste in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, are as follows: food waste 32.42%, paper 34.81%, rubber 10.56%, textiles (fibers) 3.71%, wood and bamboo 1.52%, ash and soil 7.11%, bricks and ceramics 3.8%, glass 0.94%, metals 2.17%, and others 2.98%. Moisture content 48%. 28%, higher heating value 7379.27 kJ/kg, lower heating value 5591.02 kJ/kg. The carbon share in initial waste, that is, biomass origin, is 60.4%. The proportion of unoxidized and largely recoverable metals in the waste (excluding very small or very thin parts) are: iron: 60.03%; aluminum: 17.81%; copper: 72.83%. The overall degradation rate of waste in 100 years is 18.73%.
