Coal resources in Jilin Province are widely distributed, with 32 out of the provinces 46 counties and county-level cities having coal resources. The variety of coal is quite comprehensive, including long-flame coal, lignite, gas coal, fat coal, coking coal, lean coal, and anthracite, etc. The resources are mainly distributed in the Jiaohe coalfield, the Yingcheng coalfield, the Helong coalfield, the Yangcaogou coalfield, as well as some mining fields of the Mehe coalfield and the Huichun coalfield which belong to the old Tertiary coal-bearing strata. Lignite is mainly distributed in the Shulan coalfield, part of the well fields in the Hunchun coalfield, and the Liu Fangzi coalfield; gaseous coal is mainly distributed in the Liaoyuan coalfield, Hunjiang coalfield, Wan Hong coalfield, and Shansonggang coalfield; coking coal is mainly distributed in the Hunjiang coalfield, Wan Hong coalfield, and Shansonggang coalfield; anthracite is sparsely distributed, but with small areas and limited reserves. The raw coal ash content is 11-45%, total sulfur 0.23-2.84%, volatile matter 12-55%, carbon content 72.58-88.55%, and the Qnet, ar net calorific value on received basis is 2922-8626 kcal/kg.
