The dataset represents the waste management activities of \"municipal solid waste\" in a sanitary landfill. Recommended use of this dataset: for average municipal/public waste mixtures. It is not suitable to represent any single specific waste, such as plastics, paper, or cardboard. The characteristics of urban solid waste from Xiangyang city, Hubei province, are as follows: food waste 55.3%, paper 1.5%, rubber 4.5%, textiles (fibers) 0%, wood/bamboo 8.3%, ash/soil 0%, bricks/tiles/ceramics 27.3%, glass 2%, metals 1.1%, and others 0%. Moisture content is 53.5%, and higher calorific value of 4550. 7 kJ/kg, lower calorific value 2783.55 kJ/kg. The carbon share from biological sources in the initial waste is 60.4%. The proportion of unoxidized and largely recoverable metals in the waste (excluding very small or very thin components): Iron: 60.03%; Aluminum: 17.81%; Copper: 72.83%. General degradation rate of waste over 100 years: 18.73%. Degradability of components constituting the waste: Paper: 27%; Mixed Cardboard: 32% 4% plastic: 1%; laminated materials: 18%; laminated packaging, such as beverage cartons: 18%; composite goods, like diapers: 18%; glass: 0%; textiles: 12%; minerals: 0%; natural products: 27%; compostable materials: 27%; inert metals: 10%; volatile metals: 0%; batteries: 0%; electronics: 0%; landfill gas capture and utilization generate 1.29E-04 kWh of electricity and 4.63E-01 MJ of useful heat.
