Battery-grade cobalt sulfate is mainly used for the preparation of the precursor of ternary materials (lithium nickel cobalt manganate) for the positive electrode of lithium batteries; this dataset includes the main raw materials, auxiliaries, and energy involved in the production process, along with emissions to air (NOx, SO2, acid mist, and dust) and to water (COD, SS, and ammonia nitrogen). Infrastructure such as equipment manufacturing and plant construction for production is not included within the boundaries of this dataset; the data inventory has been formulated by consolidating data from multiple sources; cobalt sulfate is processed from the raw materials of nickel cobalt ore and cobalt concentrate, specifically involving procedures such as leaching, extraction, stripping, evaporative crystallization, and drying.
