Privacy & Personal Information
The information on this page does not replace product-specific documentation, project contracts, database licenses, or other applicable terms. If these documents conflict, the contracts, agreements, and policies applicable to the relevant service will prevail.
Scope and Applicability
This Trust Center applies to the HiQLCD Database, HiQ Accounts, HiQ Editor, Cortex, and related production services provided by Shanghai HiQ Smart Data Technology Co., Ltd.
Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on the products and features you actually use. Not every service collects all of the information described in this section.
Account and Contact Information
HiQ platform products and services use a unified account system. When registering a HiQ Account, you must provide at least an account name, a mobile number and/or an email address, and create a password. If you only use basic services available without signing in, such as browsing or search, you may choose not to register or provide this information.
Registration information is used to identify you and may also support service-related communications, such as alerts about suspicious sign-ins and notices of service changes or improvements. For account risk control, when you register or sign in, we collect device information and information about the sign-in environment, including device identifiers, device name and model, operating-system version, Wi-Fi information, and IP address.
Some products may support sign-in through third-party accounts such as WeChat, Weibo, or QQ. In that case, you authorize the product to access public information registered with that third-party account, including your nickname, profile picture, and other information you authorize. Some products may also offer one-tap sign-in provided by a mobile carrier. We cannot obtain your phone number in plaintext before you actively sign in.
Product Usage Information
Depending on the services you choose, we may collect information about how you use a product or service to fulfill the corresponding service purposes. This may include text, images, audio, or video that you post, submit as feedback, comment on, or upload, as well as contact information submitted for product activities. Where a service is jointly provided by HiQ Data and a third party, both parties may jointly process relevant information to the extent necessary to provide that service.
Device and Log Information
Device information may include hardware model, operating-system version, device configuration, identifiers such as IMEI, IMSI, MAC address, IDFA, IDFV, MEID, OAID, ICCID, Android ID, and hardware serial number; connection information such as browser type, telecommunications carrier, language, and Wi-Fi information; and device-status information such as installed applications and sensor information.
When you use HiQ platform products and services, our servers may automatically record product usage, IP address, URLs visited, browser type and language, software download or usage information, and logs such as the date, time, and duration of access.
Identity Verification Information
To comply with laws and regulations, provide certain features, or strengthen account protection, some services may require your real name, government-issued identification number, and facial information for identity verification. We may compare the identity information you provide with information held by institutions permitted by law or institutions authorized by government authorities. If processing exceeds the existing scope, we will obtain separate consent as required by law unless laws or regulations provide otherwise.

How We Use Personal Information
Keeping You and Our Services Secure
To improve the security of the products and services provided by us, HiQ affiliates, and our partners, we may use your information for identity verification, customer service, security protection, fraud monitoring, credit analysis, and similar purposes. This helps prevent, detect, and/or investigate fraud, security threats, and other conduct that is unlawful or violates our agreements, policies, or rules, and protects the lawful rights and interests of you, other users, HiQ Data, our affiliates and partners, and the public.
To prevent and curb the publication and dissemination of illegal or harmful information and to protect content security when you use our products and services, we use computer algorithms to automatically calculate and analyze online content. If such content contains illegal or harmful information, we will stop its transmission and take appropriate action.
Automated Decision-Making and Personalized Recommendations
Within HiQ platform products and services, where personal information remains under the control of the same business entity and the level of data-security protection and management is not reduced, we may, with your authorization, aggregate, link, analyze, or further process information you actively or passively provide across services, and create profile labels used for automated decision-making in specific contexts.
We may analyze device, log, profile-label, or location information to identify content or features that may interest you and provide personalized displays. The relevant service will offer a way to opt out. Use cases, operating mechanisms, and available controls may vary by product; refer to the privacy notice for the relevant product.
If a decision made solely through automated decision-making has a significant impact on your rights and interests, you may ask us to explain it and may refuse a decision made solely by automated means. We will provide appropriate remedies, such as explaining the relevant logic and impact or introducing human review.
Search
To continually improve search results and better meet your search needs, when you enter a search term we identify results based on relevance, recency, authority, page quality, and other factors, and rank them on the search-results page.
Improving Products and Services
We may use the information we collect to improve our products and services and conduct necessary business operations, analytics, and research—for example, to operate products or provide services, evaluate, maintain, and improve performance, develop new products and services, and provide customer support.
To improve products and services provided by us, HiQ affiliates, and our partners, we may also compile statistics and analyze product usage. HiQ may share aggregated statistics with the public to show overall usage trends, but those statistics will not contain information that identifies you.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
To keep our websites operating properly, we store Cookies on your computer or mobile device. Cookies typically contain an identifier, a site name, and certain numbers and characters. They primarily support use of our websites and services, help count unique visitors, and allow you to set certain service preferences.
We do not use Cookies for purposes beyond those described in the Privacy Policy or a product-specific privacy notice. You can manage or delete Cookies according to your preferences and restrict their use as described in the relevant product privacy notice.
Information Sharing, Entrusted Processing, and Third-Party Services
Except where laws and regulations expressly provide otherwise, we do not share your information with any company, organization, or individual outside HiQ Data without your separate consent. Where an authorized partner provides a service, we share only the information necessary for that service, and only for lawful, legitimate, necessary, specific, and explicit purposes.
We require recipients by agreement to process personal information in accordance with our instructions, the Privacy Policy, and applicable confidentiality and security measures. If a third party uses the information for a purpose we did not entrust to it, the third party must obtain your separate consent.
Third-Party Services
The information processed, purposes, regions, and allocation of responsibilities for each service depend on the product you use, the actual configuration, and the applicable contract. Use of open-source software, development tools, or compatible protocols does not mean that their providers receive HiQ Data or user data.
Information Transfers and Public Disclosure
We do not transfer your personal information to companies, organizations, or individuals outside HiQ Data and its affiliates unless we have obtained your explicit authorization or consent, the transfer is required by legal process or a government request, or it occurs in connection with a merger, demerger, liquidation, or acquisition or sale of assets or a business.
We publicly disclose personal information only with your separate consent or where required by laws and regulations, legal proceedings, litigation, or a mandatory request from a competent government authority.
Information Retention, Cross-Border Transfers, and Deletion
Retention Period
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the services. Where laws and regulations, your consent, service security or quality, dispute resolution, or technical conditions require otherwise, the retention period may be extended as permitted by law, agreed by contract, or reasonably necessary. After the retention period expires, we delete or anonymize the relevant personal information as required by law.
Storage Location and Cross-Border Transfers
Your personal information is generally stored within the People’s Republic of China. Where personal information must be provided outside China, we complete the procedures and implement the safeguards required by applicable laws and regulations. Specific data categories, backup and log locations, cross-border transfer routes, and safeguards depend on the relevant product documentation, actual configuration, and contract.
Deletion and Backups
When you delete information from a service, the corresponding information may not be deleted from backup systems immediately, but it will be deleted when the backups are updated. Account cancellation, deletion of personal information, deletion of customer business data, and handling of data-contribution records are separate matters. We handle each according to the processing purpose, contractual terms, database license, and legal obligations.
When the service term expires or a contract is terminated, HiQ Data may, at the customer’s request, assist in exporting the original data entered by the customer. The customer may not export or retain supporting reference data or system content. The specific export scope, request period, delivery method, deletion of online data, and backup-erasure arrangements are governed by the contract between the parties and the applicable product documentation.
Your Personal Information Rights
Access and Copy
You have the right to access and obtain a copy of your personal information, subject to exceptions provided by laws and regulations. You may access or edit profile information in your account, change your password, link accounts, or complete identity verification.
Correction or Supplementation
If you discover that personal information we process about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to correct or supplement it. To protect security, we may verify your identity before you exercise these rights.
Deletion
You may request deletion where the processing purpose has been achieved, cannot be achieved, or is no longer necessary; the service has stopped or the retention period has expired; you withdraw consent; or we process personal information in violation of laws, regulations, or agreements. Other circumstances prescribed by laws or administrative regulations also apply.
Withdrawal of Consent
Each business feature requires certain basic personal information to operate. Where we process personal information based on your consent, you may give or withdraw that consent at any time. After you withdraw consent or authorization, we will no longer be able to provide the corresponding service and will stop processing the relevant personal information. Your withdrawal does not affect processing previously carried out on the basis of your consent or authorization.
Account Cancellation
You can sign in to the Personal Center and follow the instructions to request cancellation of your HiQ Account. Cancellation may not be completed immediately if the account still contains materials being processed or is subject to outstanding contracts or legal obligations.
If you are unable to cancel your account, please contact us.
Portability, Explanations, and Complaints
Where the conditions prescribed by laws, regulations, and the cyberspace administration are met, you may request that your personal information be transferred to a personal information processor you designate. You may also ask us to explain our personal information processing rules or submit a complaint or report about processing you believe is improper.
Handling Requests
To protect security, you may need to submit a written request or otherwise verify your identity. We generally respond within 15 business days. Reasonable requests are generally free of charge. We may refuse a request or charge the necessary costs where permitted by law if it is repetitive without good cause, requires disproportionate technical effort, may harm the lawful rights and interests of others, or is manifestly impractical.
Information About Minors
Our products, websites, and services are primarily intended for adults. Minors should obtain consent from a parent or guardian before using our products or providing information to us. If the parent or guardian does not consent to the relevant processing, please stop using the service and contact us.
